About alex bras
Studying as an architect, Siberian born artist Alex Bras minored in academic art. Although art was always her passion, she only dared to follow her artistic dream after immigrating into the Netherlands during the covid'19 pandemic. Against the backdrop of a world in turmoil, Bras began to depict the crises of her subjects while studying the overarching human condition. The individual's inner world depicted through a symbolic use of language and imagery.
In the series "Human and Fish," while working with used cardboard Bras researches the correlation between values of art materials, craft and the statements an artists is capable making. In her newest series "Nuclear Paradise," she explores how humanity in the 21st century copes with the constant threat of annihilation and crises through visual images/metaphor. Despite the depressive connotation, humanity retains the same vitality that moves through generation after generation along the wheel of time. Bras aims to reflect this contradiction through the language of art.
